Observed: Deanna Cheuk

If you’re like me, you like finding these bite sized vignettes of inspiration around the web. Here’s a nice interview with a very unpretentious Deanna, on her work / tangentially on her involvement with Dell.

Tennis Magazine Redesign

“Pentagram first provided Tennis with a new font family to draw from. Working with designer Rami Moghadam, Hayman created a custom logo for the masthead, based on the rounded fonts and typographic language of the mid-seventies to early eighties. Moving away from the generic and static Helvetica, the main font became Omnes, modified by Joshua Darden of Darden Studios. The new faces combine the sport’s outdoor energy with the soft springy roundness of a tennis ball; you can almost hear it bounce on the white space.”

More after the jump from Luke Hayman.

Is This a Brand Language for Ericsson?

ALICANTE, SPAIN - OCTOBER 11: The Ericsson Racing Team - Ericsson 4 sails during the start of the first leg of the Volvo Ocean Race from Alicante to Cape Town on October 11, 2008 in Alicante, Spain. This grid system of hash marks fits so nicely within the Ericsson identity - why does this brand language seem to be limited purely to their racing team?
