Thanks, MTA!

I applaud whoever had this clever idea, which mimics a campaign running in the subways for the NYC school system.

Kudos to Andrew Lopez for sniping this photo.

“If the government decides they don’t like a guy, all of the sudden hey we’re going to tax you, and, boom, and it passes, that’s seems a little scary,” he said. “It was frightening to me as an American that Congress or whoever could decide I don’t like that group, let’s pass a law and tax them 90 percent.”

Aside from the fact that this law may be unconstitutional, these are the results of a one party system with a mob mentality. I wish others would acknowledge that the implications of this kind of enthusiastic overreach are truly terrifying.

Dwell Redesign

Following up the video interview with Kyle Blue, here’s an earlier interview that Chad Kloepfer from Walker Art Center had done with him in mid-2008, after the redesign of Dwell. (A redesign I confess, I hadn’t truly observed). Chad talks with Kyle about the guiding principles, rejected covers, font choices - including Greta by Peter Bilak - and more.

Kyle Blue, Dwell Magazine

Its always nice to find videos about how other designers work and this inspiring little interview from Arkitip is no exception. It’s a neat peek into the Dwell offices and how the designers work together. Thanks to Arkitip for the video link.

From Russia With Love

Some interesting identity work from a Russian awards website. I wish I could translate it because I’d love to know who is responsible for some of this work, but unfortunately I’m at at loss.

An amazing collection of Jacqueline Casey’s posters from 30 Years of Design at MIT, in hi-res downloadable format. A great resource from RIT.
